  • 5-1 and 5-4 tires have been replaced
  • Firefighter Singh’s gear came in but the number is in the wrong area on pants

SPILLAR, FIRE OFFICIAL

  • Tuesday, Nov. 1st the Christmas Tree will be brought to the Firehouse
  • Fire Prevention week and Open House was a huge success. Big difference being back in the schools with kids attending the Open House. Thanks to Chris Neroda, the career division, and volunteers for a job well done.
  • Will be using some more of my itemized line item to purchase low stocked supplies once October bills are processed, and I can see what I have left
  • I will submit bills to WTJBOFC for their annual reimbursement of Fire Prevention money
  • Amazon – 30 Blair Rd. Firewatch due to closure 11/2 – 11/3. To be reimbursed by Amazon.
  • Will be attending the League of Municipalities conference 11/14 – 11/17
  • 5-3-8 attending 16 hours, investigating for Arson Profit 11/9 – 11/10
  • Several on – line classes taken and scheduled for CEU’s
  • Holiday Overtime will begin in November and continue through 1/7 – 1/8/2023

  • Open House is scheduled for Saturday 10/15 from 10 am – 1 pm
  • 5-3-7 and 5-3-8 have numerous virtual/in person CEU classes scheduled for the fall.
  • Would like to incorporate Axon BWC into budget, quote is attached.

JIM BOELHOWER, ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF 2022

  •  C.A.D. unit is not working
  • Auto Aid – using new roll call sheets to track calls
  • Asked about an update for a motor for the rescue boat
  • Two volunteers have started the FFI and FFII class
  • One volunteer has resigned
  • GPS unit mounted on dashboard
  • Tesla will be doing training on how to put out Electric car fires. Tentative date 10-18-22 at Iselin 11

        1. Morris Properties – 1289 Rahway Ave. has utilities. Entrance from Rahway Ave. leads you to an emergency access route up to the building.
        2. 2 Paddock St Freeze Pak will be getting utilities soon

  • Automatic Aid has been broken down by District.
  • 5-4 went out for PM. Tools had been left on the vehicle
  • Run card was discussed with Firefighters
  • Capt. Mizak thinks the automatic aid is working well
  • Capt. Karlin also thinks the automatic aid is working well
  • Will not be sending 2 of the newest members to FFI. Percentages have been low
  • FF Ortega has signed up for FFI & FFII
  • Firefighters Finley and Hozer have signed up for FFII
  • Pump Operator class will start September 6. FF Elbayar would like to attend
  • Township Officer Picnic will be August 14 in Avenel Park, would like to request an Engine
  • Would like to send an Engine to Curtains for the fundraiser

Firefighter Elbayar – Does not feel automatic aid is necessary

Capt. Karlin – Discussed issue with coverage for vacations

Capt. Mizak – Asked about a schedule change. All Firefighters agree they are tired working this shift.

Capt. Barry – Requested to speak about a schedule change and what options there are. Asked about 24-hour shifts.  Spoke about re-call changes.

Comm. Manente suggested a 4 on 4 off shift.

 Comm. Manente addressed an insulting letter the Board received from Local 290 attorney. Capt. Barry stated they had no hand in writing that letter that was sent by the Locals attorney and stated that this was the first-time hearing what was written in the letter. Capt. Barry also said that is not how the firefighters feel and agreed that the letter was in fact insulting. Capt. Barry also indicated they would like to settle and sign the contract as is with an M.O.A.

Firefighter Fritz verbalized that the Board might need a new attorney.
